Farm to Live is a program started by MEVO founder and executive director, Eric Fuchs-Stengel and his NYU friends to educate and empower the community through sustainable farming. Together, MEVO volunteers build farms across Bergen County, New Jersey and educate the community about the benefits of leading a sustainable lifestyle. We work in a variety of locations throughout the year, including our 2-acre educational farm on Campgaw Mountain in Mahwah, Swan Farm in Ramsey, and our Bergen Community College Farm in Paramus. The program focuses on teaching farming and beekeeping to people of all ages and backgrounds. Through our efforts, we are able to maintain 17 beehives across the county and donate about half of the food we grow to various hunger organizations.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fullwidth=”off” specialty=”off” transparent_background=”on” allow_player_pause=”off” inner_shadow=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off” padding_mobile=”off” make_fullwidth=”off” use_custom_width=”off” width_unit=”on” make_equal=”off” use_custom_gutter=”off”][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”1_2″][et_pb_image admin_label=”Image” src=”http://mevoearth.org/img/ftl1.jpg” show_in_lightbox=”off” url_new_window=”off” animation=”off” sticky=”off” align=”left” force_fullwidth=”off” always_center_on_mobile=”on” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” module_class=”vanity” /][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″][et_pb_image admin_label=”Image” src=”http://mevoearth.org/img/ftl4.jpg” show_in_lightbox=”off” url_new_window=”off” animation=”off” sticky=”off” align=”left” force_fullwidth=”off” always_center_on_mobile=”on” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” module_class=”vanity” /][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section transparent_background=”on” background_color=”#ffffff” inner_shadow=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off”][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” module_id=”content-bg” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]

Why do we need volunteers?

MEVO thrives on its volunteers! Whether it be a corporation planting the raised beds or a high school student shoveling compost, every volunteer makes a HUGE impact on our farm! It doesn’t matter if you come out for a day or spend your summer interning with us, WE NEED YOUR HELP. So come one, come all, to learn, teach, and work for a more sustainable future (and meet some pretty wacky people along the way).

How can you get involved?

To get involved with Farm to Live, please email us at mevovolunteers@mevoearth.org! Let us know when you are available to volunteer, and see whether or not you’d like to apply for a summer, fall, or winter internship. You can also attend one of Farm to Live’s various community workshops about aspects of farming such as beekeeping and mushroom growth. Or you can come visit our farms, meet the farmers, and learn a bit about what we do.

Lastly, please keep in mind that our farms are located across the county, so please have reliable transportation. If you want to get on our email list, let us know!

And of course, don’t forget to like us on Facebook at MEVO Farm or to follow us on Instagram at MEVO Earth to keep updated with upcoming events!
