Nov. 6: Stag Hill Clean-Up

MEVO will be participating in a local cleanup right here in Mahwah, NJ! We will be heading to the Stag Hill region of Mahwah and cleaning up the area around Silver Lake which has built up a substantial amount of trash and litter since our last visit. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of the Ramapo Valley County Reservation at 9 A.M. and we will carpool to Stag Hill from there (fewer cars = less CO2)! We should be completed with our work between 3 and 4 P.M. All proper supplies will be provided, but volunteers are advised to bring lots of water, food, and of course clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty!

If you’d like to attend this wonderful event, send an email to mevovolunteers@mevoearth.org with your name, age, phone number, and the subject line “Stag Hill Clean-Up” or call 201-566-6916.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES, as they are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. You save money while you save the environment! Sounds like a pretty sweet deal!

Sept. 17: Englewood Cliffs Trail Restoration

Due to the recent hurricane, several county parks in the Tri-State area have experienced some serious damage to their hiking trails, preventing millions of people from enjoying the natural environment we all love so much. This weekend, MEVO has decided to put off our originally scheduled trail work in order to aid these devastated park areas.

MEVO will be traveling to the Palisades Interstate Park in Englewood Cliffs, NJ in order to restore some of these trails back to their original state. We will be cleaning up debris, removing trash, and doing anything we can to repair the trails that are in dissaray.

Volunteers will be meeting in the parking lot of the Ramapo Valley County Reservation in Mahwah, NJ at 8:30am, and we will carpool to the event from there (fewer cars = less CO2)! We should be finished up around 2:00pm.

Some of these aspects will include the use of CFL lightbulbs, the dangers of idling your car, and proper ways to recycle! MEVO will also have a booth at Mahwah Day, and we will need dedicated volunteers to man the booth and inform residents about the amazing work that we do. We will be meeting at Commodore Perry Field in Mahwah at 8:30 A.M.
